Terje Rypdal - Bleak House LP

The Norwegian Hendrix outgrew his psych-rock project, Dreams, and set about moving his prodigious talents to jazz with this 1968 solo debut. With music that shifts from groovy jazz-rock with sassy hornplay, to free-jazz skronk, and some excellent atmospherics (that would serve him well on his soon-to-come ECM outings), Terje showed invention and a knack for arrangements with real texture.
