Squirrel Bait - Skag Heaven LP

First and only proper album from this Louisville, Kentucky, band that featured future members of Slint, Bastro, King Kong, Breeders, Gastr Del Sol, etc etc. Released in 1987, it's a turbo-charged, scuzzy assault that barely catches its breath throughout. I guess Husker Du is a marker, music wise, especially with guitar sound, but Squirrel Bait have their own edge borne out of being young punks living on the border of the Midwest and the South. Ferocious, but with just enough pop hooks to keep a groove in the mosh pit.
