Ron S. Peno & The Superstitions - Do The Understanding LP

Fourth solo album (well, with his band!) from this legendary Died Pretty frontman and one of the finest vocalists this land has ever had. Peno's solo work is masterful: beautifully crafted and subtley engaging throughout, it plays like a kind of chamber pop. Think late '60s Scott Walker as filtered through Oz garage-rock. That may not do his music justice, as the ace band (the great Cam Butler in tow) creates a perfect backdrop for his lyrical musings of love and loss. Seriously, the man is a national treasure. Highly recommended!
