Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru - Church of Kidane Mehret LP

Emahoy is an Ethiopian Jew who now lives in Israel, and she plays solo piano in a pensive, lyrical mode a la Erik Satie and Debussy. This set is mostly taken from her 1972 privately pressed album with a couple of extra piano tracks thrown in. These are some of her most religious tunes, filled with a heavenly spirit, and preserved on a boombox in Addis Ababa over 50 years ago.
