Spiritual jazz bassist and prolific composer David Wertman emerged as a major force in the New York City New Music scene in the 70's, playing with the likes of  Billy Bang, Arthur Blythe, Marion Brown, and Steve Reid. Wertman returned to the studio in 1983 with Sun Ensemble. This great collection features Tom McClung's lyrical, effortless piano playing, Lynne Meryl's acrobatic vocals and Tony Vacca's expressive, visceral drumming.
