Robert Wyatt - Ruth Is Stranger Than Richard LP

The Soft Machine's mischievous drummer fell out a window at a party and broke his spine, not long after the release of his debut solo LP. But it didn't stop him from releasing some of the best albums of his career, with "Rock Bottom" and this album coming after a long recovery. The dirge-like "Five Black Notes and One White Notes," a lethargic cover of Offenbach's "Baccarole," Charlie Haden's "Song for Che," and Fred Frith's piano team-up with Wyatt on "Muddy Mouth" are magical.
