Written while guitarist/vocalist/songwriter, Mike Scheidt, was in hospital after
narrowly escaping death with an intestinal issue, the Oregon doom band's
2018 album is indeed a majestic effort. Seven songs take 73 minutes to
digest, and that is 73 minutes of the most challenging and beutiful
extreme metal out there. With matters of consequence at its core,
the trio made the best album of their career, filled with invention
and real (raw) heart.
