The decision to enlist Kamasi to compose the soundtrack to this Michelle
Obama biopic was an inspired one: Kamasi's music transcends time, and
is quite at home in Michelle's young days in Chicago with its thriving jazz
scene, all the way through to now. One interesting element to this is that
Kamasi can't take a whole album side per tune so his ideas come to fruition
in quick time, which is something unheard of in his catalogue.
