The compact trio of himself, Earl May (bass), and Art Taylor (drums)
made for an intimate date, perfect for ballads such as the opener "Like
Someone in Love." The lack of a pianist gives Trane plenty of room to
express himself through simple and ornate passages. And his 15 minute
reading of Billy Strayhorn's title track is outstanding.
